Dubai has implemented new regulations for tourists applying for a visit visa, requiring them to submit both hotel booking documents with a QR code and a copy of their return ticket. This change, directed by the Dubai Emigration Department, is aimed at streamlining the visa application process. Travelers will need to provide these documents at the time of applying for a tourist visa to avoid delays in processing.
Previously, such documents were only requested by emigration officers at the airport if necessary, but now, they are mandatory for all applicants. Many Malayali tourists, for instance, have experienced delays as they were unable to submit the required paperwork. Travel agencies have been informed that these documents must be uploaded directly to the emigration department’s website when applying for a tourist visa. It’s important to note that only travel agencies are authorized to submit tourist visa applications on behalf of applicants.
Additionally, applicants must show a minimum balance on their credit or debit cards: 5000 Dirhams for a two-month visa and 3000 Dirhams for a three-month visa. This requirement ensures that tourists have sufficient financial resources for their stay. While these rules have been in effect for travelers from countries like Pakistan and certain African nations, it remains unclear whether expatriates in the UAE need to submit similar documents when applying for visit visas for their family members.
