Russia Set to Welcome Indian Tourists Visa-Free by 2025

Top Russian Destinations to Explore Without Visa Hassles

Indian travelers may soon enjoy visa-free access to Russia, with officials from both nations indicating that this arrangement could be in place by spring 2025. This initiative aims to boost Indian tourism in Russia by allowing Indian citizens to enter with just a valid passport, eliminating visa application fees and processing times. Currently, India has visa-free or visa-on-arrival agreements with 62 countries, making Russia a welcome addition to the list. In the first half of 2024 alone, Moscow hosted 28,500 Indian visitors, with some travelers utilizing the new e-visa option, which can be processed within four days. Nearly 1,700 electronic visas were granted to Indian citizens in January this year.

Should this visa-free scheme materialize, Indian travelers will have easy access to Russia’s unique destinations. Here are some must-visit spots:

Moscow: This vibrant capital city boasts historic attractions like Red Square and the Kremlin, offering visitors insight into Russia’s rich heritage and iconic architecture.

Saint Petersburg: Known for the Hermitage Museum and grand palaces, Saint Petersburg enchants tourists with its cultural landmarks and beautiful waterways.

Lake Baikal: The world’s deepest lake, Lake Baikal, is a breathtaking destination for nature enthusiasts and adventurers, offering trekking and unique landscapes.

Kazan: A city that celebrates both Tatar and Russian traditions, Kazan offers a blend of cultural experiences and a diverse culinary scene.

Sochi: With its beaches, warm weather, and energetic nightlife, Sochi is a popular choice for those looking to unwind and experience a coastal getaway.

This potential visa-free agreement is poised to make Russia an attractive and easily accessible destination for Indian tourists, allowing them to experience the nation’s historic cities, scenic landscapes, and diverse cultures without any visa-related formalities.
