Surfing enthusiasts worldwide are in for an exciting treat as Abu Dhabi prepares to unveil Surf Abu Dhabi, the largest manmade surf park globally, located on Hudayriyat Island, in October. This state-of-the-art facility caters to surfers of all skill levels, from novices eager to learn the basics to seasoned pros seeking the perfect wave. The park will operate daily from 9 AM to 10 PM on weekdays and until 11 PM on weekends.
A collaborative effort between Modon and the Kelly Slater Wave Company, Surf Abu Dhabi features saltwater waves designed to mimic natural ocean conditions. These controlled waves vary from gentle beach breaks to challenging barrels, offering both safety and thrill for users. According to General Manager Ryan Watkins, the park promises a unique experience for every surfer, ensuring a blend of excitement and security.
While the park will host an international surfing event later this month, its official opening is slated for October. The location of Hudayriyat Island was chosen for its reputation for top-tier sporting amenities, enhanced by cutting-edge technology to fulfill the desires of surf and adventure lovers.
Surf Abu Dhabi offers specialized zones for various skill levels. Beginners can start with the beach break area, which features designated sections for both first-timers and those practicing their skills. Experienced surfers can hone their abilities on Coco Beach’s slower waves, while high-performance surfers can test their techniques on the fast-paced point break. For professionals, Kelly’s Waves presents formidable challenges with towering waves designed for advanced maneuvers.
The park is integrated into a larger 5.1 crore square foot velodrome, featuring world-class accommodations, sporting facilities, and entertainment options. An impressive 220 km cycling track is also under construction on Hudayriyat Island. Surf Abu Dhabi stands alongside various other attractions, including a bike park, the largest urban park, an elevated cycling track, an indoor sports activity center, and eco-friendly initiatives like mangrove forests and an eco-farming center, making it a premier destination for outdoor enthusiasts.
