Thrissur Pooram enthusiasts are in for a unique treat this year, as the Thiruvambadi’s chamayam exhibition promises to transport visitors into a captivating cinematic experience. Designed as a grand set resembling a temple festival, the exhibition showcases the mesmerizing regalia of the Pooram, including colorful umbrellas, venchamaram, alavattam, and the glittering elephant ornaments. The set, created with a significant budget, features a giant banyan tree swaying gently, a stone-paved walkway, and a temple platform, all set to the backdrop of rhythmic ‘melam’ beats, bringing the spirit of Pooram to life in an extraordinary way.
The set has been curated by renowned art director Prashant Madhav, known for his work in popular films like Aadujeevitham and Nadikar. The lighting design, crafted by cinematographer Aneesh Lal, enhances the vibrant colors of the Pooram paraphernalia, particularly the umbrellas. The setup is constructed in the Kausthubam Hall, with special attention to detail from various experts, including Manikandan’s team, who are working on the flooring.
The exhibition will be open from May 4 at 10 am and will close at midnight on May 5. This year’s chamayam exhibition is a blend of tradition and cinematic creativity, offering visitors a chance to experience the grandeur of the Pooram in an entirely new way.
