Struggling Bollywood actor Vishal Brahma was arrested at Chennai airport with drugs worth Rs 40 crore. 32-year-old Brahma, who is from Assam, had returned to Chennai from Singapore on flight AI 347 when the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence intercepted him with the contraband. Sources revealed that he had been roped in by a Nigerian gang. The investigation is expected to expand as authorities aim to apprehend the Nigerian gang behind the operation.
According to the reports, during a thorough examination of his luggage, customs officers discovered a hidden compartment in the bottom of his trolley bag, containing several plastic bags filled with a white powdery substance. A field test was conducted, which confirmed the substance to be cocaine.
The seized contraband weighed approximately 3.5 kilograms. Further investigation is underway to determine the extent of Vishal’s involvement and potential connections to international drug trafficking networks. Earlier in June, Kollywood actors Krishna and Shrikant were arrested under the Narcotics Act. The investigation, which began with a nightclub brawl in early June, has revealed a larger nexus involving drug peddling, a job scam, and land grabbing.
Police also said that Prasad, through his contacts in the police department, had acquired call details and locations of people, threatened them and got money. The investigation also led to the arrest of Senthil, an armed reserve head constable in Madurai. He acted in the 2019 film Student of the Year 2.
