Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in a thrilling new supernatural romance, marking a significant collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan and internationally bestselling author Nicholas Sparks. The film, which is based on an original story co-created by Shyamalan and Sparks, is set to be a unique mix of love and the supernatural. While it is still unclear if this project should be classified as an adaptation, the two creative forces are working on the same concept, with Shyamalan crafting the screenplay while Sparks writes a novel based on the same story, characters, and themes.
This marks a rare collaboration for Shyamalan, who is known for his preference for working independently on his scripts. It is also only his second venture adapting literary material, following his 2023 film Knock at the Cabin, which was based on Paul Tremblay’s The Cabin at the End of the World. With major names like Gyllenhaal and Sparks involved, this new supernatural thriller has generated significant excitement.
The film will be produced by Shyamalan and Ashwin Rajan through Blinding Edge Pictures, with Sparks serving as an Executive Producer alongside his producing partners Theresa Park and Marc Bienstock. The movie is currently in talks with Warner Bros. for a potential theatrical release. Gyllenhaal, who was recently seen in Road House (2024) and received Golden Globe recognition for his performance in Presumed Innocent (2024), will bring his talents to this highly anticipated project.
