Kate Winslet shares her children’s reactions to her iconic roles in Titanic and Eternal Sunshine, reflecting on how the films impacted them and her personal journey with fame

Kate Winslet, known for her unforgettable role in Titanic (1997), recently revealed how her children reacted to two of her most iconic films. The Oscar-winning actress, who portrayed Rose in the James Cameron-directed epic, shared that her 10-year-old son Bear only watched Titanic for the first time last year. His reaction was heartwarming, with Kate recalling how he “cried a lot” and was so emotionally overwhelmed that he had to pause the movie several times.

Kate also shared insights into how her older children, Mia, 24, and Joe, 21, responded to another one of her celebrated films, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The mind-bending romantic drama is a “big favorite” among them. She playfully expressed disappointment when she discovered that her children had watched the film without her, as she had always envisioned experiencing it together with them.

Reflecting on her career post-Titanic, Winslet opened up about the challenges of handling fame in her early twenties. Despite the massive success of the film, she deliberately chose to pursue smaller, independent roles to escape the overwhelming attention. Speaking at the premiere of her new film Lee in New York, Kate expressed gratitude for the lasting impact of Titanic, acknowledging the film’s enduring resonance with audiences.
