Amid all the buzz, a new report has surfaced claiming the IMAX ticket sales of the film began a year before the release.
According to reports, IMAX tickets for The Odyssey will go on sale on July 17, 2025 — an entire year before the Universal Pictures action epic is slated to hit the big screen. Following the successful release and awards campaign of the film Oppenheimer (2023), Nolan began writing his next film and was revealed in October 2024 to be reteaming with Universal for it.
Casting took place in the following months, and the film was announced in December as an adaptation of the Odyssey. Filming began in February 2025 and occurred throughout various regions worldwide, including Morocco, Greece, Italy, Scotland, and Iceland. With an estimated production budget of $250 million. “The Odyssey” is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 17, 2026.
