Director Jofin T Chacko has revealed that Twinkle Surya, a Mammootty lookalike, played the iconic actor in the AI-generated scenes of Rekhachithram. Surya, who bears a striking resemblance to Mammootty, underwent rigorous training under movement coach Arun Perumba to replicate the veteran actor’s gestures and body language.
The AI-driven de-aging process, led by the Mindstein team under Andrew’s guidance, brought Mammootty’s younger version to life for crucial scenes in the film. These sequences depict Mammootty arriving on the sets of Kaathodu Kaathoram and participating in the shooting.
Twinkle Surya expressed his gratitude on Instagram, calling Rekhachithram a dream-come-true project. He thanked director Jofin T Chacko for the opportunity and Mammootty for his approval, without which the role and film wouldn’t have been possible. Surya also shared his journey of transforming from a nobody to an actor, calling it an incredible experience.
To prepare for the role, Surya shed 10 kg, reducing his weight from 90 kg to 80 kg, and dedicated significant effort to mastering Mammootty’s mannerisms. Hailing from Perumbavoor, Surya gained viral fame for his resemblance to Mammootty and has a strong Instagram following, where he often shares videos mimicking the legendary actor’s songs and dialogues.
Rekhachithram marks a milestone in Surya’s career, showcasing his dedication and the seamless integration of AI technology to bring a cinematic vision to life.
