IPL 2025: RCB and Punjab Kings Clash for a Spot in the Final

First IPL 2025 Finalist to Be Decided Today in High-Stakes Qualifier Between Two Title-Hungry Teams

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier of IPL 2025, with the winner securing a direct spot in the final. Both teams are yet to win an IPL title, making today’s clash even more significant in their quest for glory.

Punjab Kings finished the league stage at the top of the points table, while RCB claimed the second spot. The losing team, however, will still have a second chance at the final by playing the winner of the Eliminator match between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2.

During the group stage, the teams had one win each against each other. Punjab defeated RCB by five wickets in Bengaluru, but RCB returned the favor with a seven-wicket victory in Mohali.

RCB’s bowling attack has been strengthened with the return of pacer Josh Hazlewood, and their batting unit — led by Virat Kohli — is in excellent form. On the other side, Punjab’s powerful batting line-up includes Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Shashank Singh, Nahal Wadhera, and Josh Inglis. While the absence of Marco Jansen may hurt their bowling strength, the comeback of leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from injury adds depth.

This match is historic for Punjab, marking their first playoff appearance since 2014. With both sides eyeing their maiden IPL trophy, fans can expect a high-octane battle as the first finalist of IPL 2025 is revealed.
