Unni Mukundan Wraps Up Filming for Action Thriller ‘Marco’ After 100 Days

Malayalam Cinema's Most Violent Film Yet Concludes Production

Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan’s highly anticipated action thriller Marco has officially completed its shooting, as announced by the film’s team on social media on August 28. After nearly 100 days of intense filming, the production has wrapped up, marking the end of what the filmmakers describe as one of the most ambitious projects in Malayalam cinema. Directed by Haneef Adeni, Marco is touted to be the most violent film ever made in the industry, setting a new benchmark for action-packed thrillers.

The producers expressed their excitement over completing the “ambitious shooting schedule,” revealing that the film includes a staggering 60-day action sequence that promises to be a visual spectacle. Unni Mukundan, who plays the lead role, and action director Kalai Kingson received special praise for their dedication and efforts in bringing the high-octane scenes to life.

Marco is particularly unique as it serves as the first-ever spin-off in Malayalam cinema, focusing on the character Marco Jr., originally portrayed by Unni Mukundan in Nivin Pauly’s film Mikhael. The movie explores Marco’s dark past and his rise in the criminal underworld, offering a gritty and violent narrative that sets it apart from other films in the genre.

In addition to Unni Mukundan, the film features an ensemble cast, including Siddique, Jagadish, Anson Paul, Kabir Duhan Singh, and newcomer Abhimanyu Shammy Thilakan, who is the grandson of veteran actor Thilakan. The cinematography is handled by Chandru Selvaraj, with production under the banners of Cubes Entertainments and Unni Mukundan Films.
