Veteran Malayalam Actor Meghanathan Passes Away at 60

Kozhikode: Malayalam actor Meghanathan, son of iconic actor Balan K Nair, passed away on Thursday at the age of 60. The actor was receiving treatment for breathing issues at a private hospital in Kozhikode. His funeral is set to take place in Shoranur, Palakkad, on Thursday.

Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Meghanathan was the third child of Balan K Nair and Sarada Nair. Despite earning a Diploma in Automobile Engineering from Coimbatore after studying at Asan Memorial Association in Chennai, he chose to pursue his passion for acting, following in his father’s illustrious footsteps.

Meghanathan made his acting debut in the 1983 Malayalam film Asthram and went on to star in over 50 movies during a career that spanned more than three decades. Known for his versatility, his notable films include Panchagni, Chamayam, Rajadhani, Bhoomigeetham, Chenkol, Malappuram Haji Mahanaya Joji, Prayikkara Pappan, Ee Puzhayum Kadannu, Rashtram, and Vaasthavam.

Meghanathan is survived by his wife Susmitha and daughter Parvathi, who reside in Shoranur. His siblings—Anil, Ajayakumar, Latha, and Sujatha—also mourn his loss. The Malayalam film industry has lost a gifted actor whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
