The highly awaited trailer for Narivetta, an intense Malayalam political action drama, has finally been released, capturing attention for its bold narrative and gripping performances. Actor Vijay Sethupathi launched the trailer via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, wishing the team well and praising the film’s potential.
Directed by Anuraj Manohar and inspired by real-life incidents, the film stars Tovino Thomas, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Tamil actor-director Cheran in prominent roles as police officers. The trailer opens with stark visuals of a police operation to demolish tribal settlements on alleged encroached forest land. While Cheran’s character attempts diplomatic dialogue with the affected tribal community, scenes quickly escalate, exposing the harsh treatment and third-degree methods used against the helpless villagers.
A chilling scene shows a tribal man too afraid to admit he’s been beaten, hinting at the deep trauma inflicted by systemic violence. Tovino plays a morally conflicted junior officer caught in the ethical dilemma between duty and justice. His interactions with Cheran’s senior officer — who coldly warns him against heroism — lay the groundwork for a brewing rebellion.
As the tribal community refuses to abandon their ancestral land, Cheran’s character raises suspicions of Maoist influence, adding layers of political complexity and mistrust. One of the most striking moments in the trailer reveals Tovino’s character being interrogated by fellow officers after a bullet is fired from his rifle, suggesting deeper intrigue and betrayal within the force.
The trailer powerfully ends with the phrases: “When the system betrays, the revolution begins,” capturing the essence of resistance and the fight for dignity.
