The much-anticipated Kia EV9 electric SUV is set to officially launch in India on October 3, marking the debut of Kia’s flagship electric vehicle in the country. Initially showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, the EV9 has generated considerable buzz, and its GT-Line AWD variant is now listed on the company’s India website. This top-of-the-line model will be the first offering in India, known for its powerful performance, spacious interior, and cutting-edge features.
The Kia EV9 GT-Line AWD is expected to be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and boasts a dual-motor setup capable of delivering an impressive 379 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. The electric SUV offers an estimated range of around 434 kilometers on a single charge, making it a strong contender in the growing Indian electric vehicle market. It also supports 350 kW DC fast charging, ensuring quick recharge times for long-distance travel.
One of the standout features of the Kia EV9 is its inclusion of Level-3 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes a 360-degree camera, blind spot detection, parking collision avoidance, lane driving assistance, and navigation-based cruise control. These features are designed to provide enhanced safety and convenience for drivers.
Although the official pricing for the Indian market has not yet been revealed, the EV9 AWD GT-Line is priced at $73,900 in the United States, which translates to approximately Rs 62.06 lakh. However, due to its CBU status, the Indian price is expected to be higher. Kia has not announced any plans for local assembly of the EV9, unlike models such as the Kia Carnival, which are likely to be assembled locally in India at a later stage.
With its advanced technology, powerful performance, and sleek design, the Kia EV9 is expected to attract significant attention from Indian consumers looking to embrace electric mobility. The launch on October 3 will officially introduce the EV9 to the Indian market, further strengthening Kia’s presence in the electric vehicle sector.
