Continuous Heavy Rain Forecasted in Kerala: Warnings Issued for 9 Districts, Orange Alert in Two

Heavy rain is expected to persist in Kerala, with the Central Meteorological Department warning of potential rainfall in Central Kerala, North Kerala, and the hilly regions. Rain warnings have been issued for nine districts today, with Kannur and Kasaragod under an orange alert. Additionally, a yellow alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts.

Rain is also forecasted for nine districts tomorrow. Monsoon winds along the south Kerala coast have increased, reaching speeds of 60 to 65 km per hour. Unpredictable rainfall is likely in various areas, including the hilly regions. The disaster management authority has advised the public to stay vigilant due to the possibility of strong winds and thunderstorms accompanying the rain.

Fishing prohibitions will remain in effect along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts due to strong winds and adverse weather conditions. Special caution is also advised along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu coasts due to high waves and sea storms.
