Schools Closed in Five Kerala Districts tomorrow Due to Heavy Rain

District collectors from Kannur, Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Malappuram have declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Monday, July 15, due to heavy rainfall. In Kasaragod, only schools and anganwadis will be closed, with colleges remaining open. Kannur collector Arun K Vijayan, Kozhikode collector Snehil Kumar Singh, Thrissur collector Krishna Teja, and Malappuram collector V R Vinod have stated that all educational institutions, including anganwadis and professional colleges, will be shut on Monday. However, university and public examinations will proceed as planned. In Kasaragod, district collector Inbasekar Kalimuthu has announced a holiday for schools under state government, CBSE, ICSE boards, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and anganwadis on Monday.

Additionally, the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Kannur on Monday, predicting rainfall exceeding 244 mm within 24 hours. Malappuram and Kasaragod are also under red alert, while Kozhikode and Thrissur are on orange alert. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) forecasts high tidal waves along the coasts of Kannur and Kasaragod until 11:30 pm on Monday. The Met office anticipates continued heavy rain in Kerala over the next five days due to intensifying monsoon winds.
