Explosion Near BJP Leader Sobha Surendran’s Home in Thrissur Triggers Security Alert

Attackers May Have Mistaken Neighbor's House for the BJP Vice President’s Residence; Police Investigation Underway

A late-night explosion near the residence of BJP State Vice President Sobha Surendran in Thrissur has raised serious security concerns. The incident took place around 10:45 PM on Friday near Ayyanthole Ground, sending shockwaves through the local community. Unidentified individuals allegedly threw an explosive device at a house located close to Sobha Surendran’s home. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but the loud blast left residents alarmed.

Sobha Surendran, who was at home during the time of the incident, confirmed to the media that the explosion occurred at precisely 10:44 PM and described the sound as extremely loud and disturbing. She suspects that the attackers may have deliberately targeted her house but ended up hitting a neighbor’s residence instead. “The explosive landed right at the gate. If there was no intention to target the house, it could have been thrown elsewhere. This seems intentional,” she emphasized.

The City Police, under the direction of the Thrissur Police Commissioner, have initiated a full-scale investigation. CCTV footage from the area is being closely examined, and local residents have reported seeing a suspicious car in the vicinity during the time of the blast.

Police personnel and BJP party workers rushed to the spot soon after the explosion, and a forensic team is expected to analyze the remnants of the device. While no suspects have been identified yet, authorities are treating the incident as a potential politically motivated attack. The investigation is ongoing as efforts continue to trace the vehicle and individuals involved.
