Delhivery Limited, a leading logistics and supply chain company in India, has announced its decision to acquire a controlling stake in its competitor, Ecom Express, for a substantial cash investment of ₹1,407 crore. This acquisition marks a strategic move by Delhivery to strengthen its market position and broaden its service capabilities across the logistics sector. The deal is still pending approval from the Competition Commission of India (CCI). Legal advisory was provided by Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co., while Ernst & Young conducted the financial and tax diligence for Delhivery.
According to Sahil Barua, MD and CEO of Delhivery, this acquisition is expected to bring about significant benefits through joint investments in technology, workforce, infrastructure, and an expanded delivery network. He praised Ecom Express for building a high-performing team and network that aligns well with Delhivery’s vision. K. Satyanarayana, Founder of Ecom Express, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence that Delhivery is the right partner to lead Ecom Express into its next stage of growth, especially given their complementary strengths and shared goals for innovation and expansion in the logistics ecosystem.
Founded in 2012, Ecom Express has made a mark as one of India’s top logistics companies, offering tech-driven delivery and fulfillment services, having served nearly 2 billion shipments across 97% of Indian households. Delhivery, on the other hand, has handled over 3.4 billion deliveries and works with more than 39,000 customers, including major e-commerce brands and businesses. With this acquisition, Delhivery aims to scale up its logistics offerings—ranging from parcel delivery to freight and warehouse solutions—by integrating Ecom Express’s extensive service network and customer base, which currently spans over 18,700 pin codes in India.
