Indian Stock Market Sees Strong Weekly Gains: TCS, Infosys, ITC Lead the Surge

Six of India's Top 10 Companies Record Impressive Market Cap Growth Amidst Bullish Trends

Mumbai witnessed a positive trend in the stock market this week, with six out of India’s ten most valued companies registering significant gains in their market capitalisation. In total, the combined market value of these six firms soared by an impressive Rs 1,18,626.24 crore. The broader market also reflected this strength, with the Sensex climbing 659.33 points, or 0.83 per cent, and the Nifty advancing 187.7 points, or 0.78 per cent.

Among the top performers, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) led the pack, adding a massive Rs 53,692.42 crore to its valuation, which now stands at Rs 12,47,281.40 crore. Infosys also posted a robust performance with an increase of Rs 24,919.58 crore, boosting its market capitalisation to Rs 6,14,766.06 crore. HDFC Bank, the country’s most valuable company, added Rs 2,907.85 crore to reach a market cap of Rs 14,61,842.17 crore. State Bank of India (SBI) and ITC too registered growth, with their valuations rising by Rs 1,472.57 crore and Rs 1,126.27 crore respectively.

However, not all major players shared in the rally. Bharti Airtel suffered the biggest drop, losing Rs 41,967.5 crore in value, followed by Hindustan Unilever, Bajaj Finance, and ICICI Bank, each seeing marginal declines in their market worth.

Meanwhile, reflecting the previous week’s bullish momentum, the combined market cap of the top 10 most valuable firms had surged by Rs 3.84 lakh crore. Despite a shortened trading week due to holidays, indices posted strong gains, with the Nifty closing at 23,851 after a 4.48 per cent rise, and the Sensex ending at 78,553, marking a 4.52 per cent jump.
