A shocking incident has been reported from Bengaluru, where a doctor has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, Dr Kruthika M Reddy. The arrest came after her father filed a complaint, prompting the Marathahalli Police to register an FIR on October 14.
According to the family, Dr Kruthika, a 29-year-old dermatologist, was found dead on April 24, less than a year after her marriage to Dr Mahendra Reddy G S, a practising surgeon. The post-mortem revealed traces of Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic used only in operating theatres, in several of her organs. Investigators believe the drug was given to her deliberately, leading to respiratory failure.
Police said that Dr Mahendra used his hospital access to get the drug from Victoria Hospital, administered it to his wife, and then tried to make her death appear natural. He also allegedly pressured her family not to file a police complaint or request a post-mortem.
Following the FIR under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, which allows for the death penalty or life imprisonment for murder, police arrested the accused near Manipal within three hours. A Look-Out Circular was issued to prevent him from leaving the country.
The family also claims that the accused’s criminal background — including earlier cases of cheating, threats, and intimidation — was hidden from them before the marriage. Meanwhile, the Police are continuing their investigation.
