Kozhikode: A shocking theft has occurred at the home of acclaimed writer MT Vasudevan Nair in Kozhikode, with 26 sovereigns of gold jewelry reported missing. The incident took place at the writer’s residence on Kottaram Road, Nadakkave, while he and his wife, Saraswathi, were away between September 29 and 30. Upon their return, they discovered that gold ornaments had disappeared from their almirah, leading to Saraswathi filing a complaint with the Nadakkave police.
The stolen items include three necklaces, bangles, earrings, a pair of diamond earrings with a locket, and a locket adorned with an emerald stone. Initial assumptions were that the jewelry had been safely stored in a bank locker, but the family later realized that the gold had been kept in the almirah at home.
Interestingly, there were no signs of forced entry or tampering with the almirah, raising suspicions that the burglars might have used a key, which was reportedly kept nearby. This has led authorities to believe that someone familiar with the household may be involved in this incident.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation, focusing on people close to the family as potential suspects. Investigators are working to track down the culprits and recover the stolen jewelry.
