In Eengappuzha, Kozhikode, a man named Yasir was arrested after fatally attacking his wife, Shibila, while allegedly under the influence of synthetic drugs. The incident occurred during Iftar and stemmed from a family dispute. When Shibila’s father, Abdurrahman, attempted to intervene, he was also attacked and is now in critical condition at Kozhikode Medical College. Shibila’s mother, Haseena, sustained injuries while trying to protect her husband and is receiving treatment at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital.
Yasir and Shibila had been married for four years and have a three-year-old child. Due to ongoing disputes, Shibila had recently returned to her parental home. During this period, Yasir allegedly burned her clothes and sent her a photograph to intimidate her. The family had previously filed a complaint with Thamarassery police regarding Yasir’s behavior, but they claim the matter was not adequately investigated. Police assert that the investigation is ongoing, and Yasir is currently held at Kozhikode Medical College Police Station.
