Thiruvananthapuram: In a shocking case, Prajin Jose (28), a medical student, has been accused of brutally murdering his father, Jose (70), at their residence in Charavuvila Bungalow, Killiyoor, Vellarada. The family has raised concerns that occult practices may have influenced the crime, citing his erratic behavior, shaved body hair, and possession of black idols.
The murder occurred on the night of February 5 when Jose was attacked while sitting on a sofa in the hall. He suffered a deep wound on his neck and, while trying to escape, was chased into the kitchen, where Prajin allegedly inflicted fatal injuries to his head, neck, and chest.
Signs of Disturbing Behavior
According to his mother, Sushama Kumari, Prajin’s behavior had changed drastically in recent months. He had become reclusive, locking himself in his second-floor room and cutting off communication with the family. Previously studying medicine in China, he later joined a film course in Kochi, spending ₹1.5 lakh, after which his behavior became increasingly erratic.
Prajin had also stopped attending church and often went out at odd hours, returning late at night. If questioned, he allegedly reacted with aggression, leaving his family terrified.
Unusual Rituals Before the Murder
In the days leading up to the crime, Prajin reportedly shaved off all his body hair, including his head, and piled it in a corner of his room. His room contained black idols and peculiar weapons, which further alarmed his family.
Suspecting involvement in satanic rituals, the family has urged authorities to examine his mobile phones and possessions for potential evidence. The Vellarada police are currently investigating the case, with plans to take Prajin into custody for further questioning. He is presently on remand at Thozhukkal Jail in Neyyattinkara.
As the probe continues, authorities are working to determine whether the crime was premeditated, influenced by occult practices, or driven by psychological distress.
