The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a strong clarification denying the circulation of a fake public notice that falsely claimed all exams were cancelled due to a “war-like situation” in the country. The notice also advised students to return home, fueling unnecessary panic. The UGC took to its official social media platform X to debunk the misinformation, stressing that the notice circulating online was fabricated and that no such directions had been issued by the commission.
The UGC further warned against spreading such misinformation, asserting that anyone disseminating such false claims would be subject to legal consequences. It emphasized that all official updates would only be available through the UGC’s official website and social media channels, urging the public to rely solely on these verified sources for information.
This clarification came in the wake of heightened tensions following India’s Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK) as a response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The operation successfully struck nine terror sites, aiming to eliminate key figures from groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
In response, Pakistan violated the Ceasefire Agreement by firing artillery in Jammu and Kashmir, specifically in the Bhimber Gali area. The Indian Army retaliated in a controlled and strategic manner, as confirmed by defense officials.
