New Delhi: The national capital has been placed under heightened security ahead of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and the proposed “Chalo Sansad” march scheduled for Monday. Delhi Police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) across the New Delhi district to prevent any unauthorised gatherings.
Police officials clarified that no permission has been granted for the proposed march and warned that demonstrations, processions and assemblies of five or more people are prohibited, except at Jantar Mantar with prior approval. Authorities cautioned that anyone violating the restrictions would face legal action under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other applicable laws.
Security has been intensified around Parliament, Jantar Mantar, Central Vista, Connaught Place and other key locations. Additional police personnel, paramilitary forces, barricades, CCTV surveillance and vehicle checks have been deployed to maintain law and order throughout the Parliament session.
The proposed protest, organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), is aimed at demanding action over the alleged NEET examination irregularities and seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Meanwhile, activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital after his health deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike, has appealed to supporters to participate in the march.
