India squad selection for the upcoming Test series against West Indies is set to take place on September 23 or 24, informed BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) secretary Devajit Saikia. India is set to begin their home season with a two-match Test series against West Indies, on October 2 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
It will be the first home series for India in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2025-27 after they started on a terrific note in England with a 2-2 draw on Shubman Gill’s Test captaincy debut. Ahead of the series, Devajit Saikia revealed that the selection meeting will be done online.
The second Test of the series will be played from October 10-14 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The series will also mark the return of fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, who helped India win the fifth Test in England at the Oval with his career-best performance of 9/190. Siraj was also adjudged ICC Player of the Month for his heroic performance.
Meanwhile, the West Indies have announced their squad for the series as they brought back Tagnarine Chanderpaul, son of legendary Shivnarine Chanderpaul, in the squad. Batter Alick Athanaze has also marked his return to the side, while left-arm spinner Khary Pierre earned his maiden Test call-up. Pierre recently claimed 41 wickets at an average of 13.56 in the West Indies Championship.
