Intelligence Agencies Thwart Pakistan-Backed Terror Plot in Delhi; Two Arrested

Major Operation Uncovers ISI-Linked Network Targeting National Capital

New Delhi’s intelligence agencies successfully prevented a planned terrorist attack orchestrated with support from Pakistan. After a thorough three-month investigation, two individuals linked to Pakistan’s ISI, and trained in covert operations, were apprehended. This major breakthrough came following intelligence about the group’s efforts to gather sensitive details regarding military installations in Delhi.

Authorities believe that two former officials from the Pakistan High Commission—who had been expelled by India earlier—played a role in facilitating this scheme. Among those implicated were Danish and Muzammil, individuals who reportedly collected information from various sources, including popular YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra.

Initial intelligence in January indicated the possibility of an attack, with a key ISI operative named Ansarul Mia Ansari expected to arrive in Delhi to gather critical information. The intelligence agency strategically delayed action until February to confirm his activities. Ansari entered Delhi on February 15 and began receiving information before being arrested while attempting to leave the city. This arrest was followed by another, revealing the broader extent of the network.

Officials described the operation as one of the most significant against Pakistani espionage in recent times. It also followed warnings of potential attacks in northwestern India after incidents involving the Pakistan-backed group Babur Khalsa International in Punjab. Ansari’s capture was a key step in disrupting planned attacks.

Investigations revealed that Ansari maintained regular contact with his Indian handler, Akhlaq Azam, who provided sensitive military intelligence. Police believe both had ongoing communication with Pakistani handlers, and further arrests are expected as the probe continues.
