The Karnataka government has announced an immediate increase in petrol and diesel prices, effective from Saturday. According to an official notification from the Government of Karnataka, this price hike results from a revision in the sales tax on petroleum products.
Petrol prices in Bengaluru have risen by Rs 3, moving from Rs 99.84 to Rs 102.84 per litre. Similarly, diesel prices have increased by Rs 3.02, now costing Rs 88.95 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs 85.93.
This decision by the Finance Department of Karnataka aims to boost state revenue. However, it is expected to impact various sectors, including transportation and goods distribution, potentially leading to higher consumer costs. The sudden implementation has surprised many residents and businesses, raising concerns about the additional financial strain.
