Main Suspect in Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case Arrested, Confesses: Mumbai Police

Mumbai Police Make Key Arrest in Burglary-Turned-Attack Incident

Mumbai Police have apprehended Vijay Das, the alleged perpetrator in the stabbing of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan during a burglary attempt at his Mumbai residence. The arrest occurred four days after the incident, with the accused located at a labour camp in Thane West, where he had been employed at a bar. Police confirmed that Das confessed to the crime, and further investigations are underway. A press conference is scheduled for Sunday at 9 am, where additional details are expected.

Earlier, police detained another individual who bore a resemblance to the attacker and was seen with a similar backpack, as shown in CCTV footage from Khan’s building. However, authorities later clarified that the man had no connection to the case.

The attack happened at approximately 2:30 am near the room of Saif’s younger son, Jeh, in the Satguru Sharan building. Khan sustained six stab wounds, one of which was to the neck. After undergoing emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital, the 54-year-old actor is now recovering and out of danger.

CCTV footage captured the assailant wearing a red scarf and carrying a backpack, swiftly descending the stairs from the building’s sixth floor. The arrest of Das marks a significant development in resolving the case, bringing much-needed clarity to this high-profile incident.
