New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver a keynote address at the third edition of the Kautilya Economic Conclave, scheduled from October 4 to 6 in New Delhi. Organized by the Institute of Economic Growth in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, the event will bring together nearly 150 leading academicians and policymakers from India and abroad to deliberate on critical global and regional economic challenges. PM Modi’s speech, planned for Friday evening, will follow the official inauguration by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
This year’s conclave will focus on key themes, including reforms in the global financial system, financing green transitions, managing geo-economic fragmentation, and addressing the middle-income trap. Other topics of discussion will center on skilling and job creation, artificial intelligence’s role in policy-making, and maintaining economic resilience.
High-profile attendees include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Bhutan’s Finance Minister Lyonpo Lekey Dorji, and NITI Aayog’s Vice Chairman Suman Beri, among others. Over three days, participants will explore how India can leverage its strengths in AI, machine learning, and fintech to boost job creation, improve productivity, and foster innovation. Discussions will also touch on the reforms necessary to make the global financial architecture more efficient and resilient, as well as the long-term strategies required to achieve sustainable development goals.
As a precursor to key international events like the Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank, COP 29, and the Brazilian G20 Leaders’ Summit, the conclave highlights India’s growing role as a key facilitator for countries in the Global South. The sessions aim to contribute to multilateral consensus-building and emphasize India’s leadership in shaping global economic policies.
