President Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit the revered Sabarimala temple in Kerala on May 18 and 19, marking a significant spiritual journey by the head of state. According to reports, the Travancore Devaswom Board has received an official communication from Rashtrapati Bhavan, prompting extensive preparations for the high-profile visit.
The President is scheduled to arrive at the Nilakkal helipad on May 18, from where she will proceed to Pamba by road, followed by a trek to Sabarimala Sannidhanam, the sacred abode of Lord Ayyappa. In view of the visit, the virtual queue system for devotees has been temporarily suspended on both days to streamline arrangements and ensure security.
The Public Works Department and the Devaswom Board are carrying out urgent maintenance and beautification efforts along the roads from Nilakkal to Pamba, and further towards Triveni and Sharanapatha. Additional secure accommodation is also being constructed at the Devaswom Guest House in Sannidhanam for the President’s stay.
A team from the Central Armed Forces has already inspected Sannidhanam to review the security infrastructure. The Devaswom Board is coordinating the logistics, including safety protocols and lodging, for the dignitary’s visit.
President Murmu is expected to conclude her pilgrimage and depart Kerala on May 19 after receiving darshan at the hill shrine. The event is being seen as a moment of pride for the state and a testament to the cultural and spiritual significance of Sabarimala.
