
Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on Wednesday, with the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) launching over a fortnight-long “Sewa Pakhwada” to mark the birthday of the leader. Modi was born on September 17, 1950, in a small town, Vadnagar, in Gujarat.
He will be travelling to Dhar in Madhya Pradesh to kick off a nationwide campaign focusing on women’s and children’s health and nutrition. He will launch a slew of other development programmes, including one with a focus on the tribal population, and address people as well.
President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday greeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday and praised him for instilling a culture of achieving great goals in the country. “Today, the global community is also expressing its faith in your guidance,” Murmu said in her birthday greetings to the PM.
“I pray to God that you remain forever healthy and joyful, and with your unique leadership, lead the nation to new heights of progress,” the president said in a post on X in Hindi. Leaders across parties extended greetings and hailed his leadership.
Sikkim Chief Minister P S Tamang said Modi’s life was an embodiment of national service and prayed for his good health, while UP CM Yogi Adityanath described him as the “torchbearer of the hopes and aspirations of 1.4 billion Indians” and lauded his role in placing “New India” on the global stage.
Bihar CM Nitish Kumar wished him a long life, and Vice President C P Radhakrishnan said India is making a mark globally under his visionary leadership. Leaders from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Russia lauded his leadership and contributions to bilateral and global cooperation.
