A government school teacher in Rajasthan, Rekha Soni, has been suspended after a video of her students giving her a massage inside the classroom surfaced on social media, sparking widespread criticism. The incident occurred at the Kartarpura Government Primary School in Jaipur, where students were seen massaging the teacher’s legs, while other students in the classroom continued with their studies.
The video, which quickly gained attention online, prompted an official inquiry. Director of Elementary Education, Sitaram Jat, announced that an investigation had been initiated and that the teacher’s behavior was found to violate the school’s code of conduct. “Grade-III teacher Rekha Soni’s actions were against the established rules, and she has been suspended with immediate effect,” said Jat.
Initially, the school’s principal, Anju Chaudhary, claimed ignorance of the situation and suggested that the teacher might have asked the students for assistance due to feeling unwell. According to reports, Rekha Soni admitted she was experiencing leg pain and sought temporary relief from a student. However, education officials stressed that this was no justification for her actions, which were deemed inappropriate and unprofessional, leading to her suspension.
The incident has fueled debate about teacher conduct in classrooms, with many calling for stricter adherence to professional guidelines to ensure a healthy and ethical learning environment.
