Tensions Escalate: Pakistan Provokes Again as Fighter Jet Violates Indian Airspace

Amid growing cross-border tensions, India responds strongly to airspace violation and drone attacks; 32 airports across India shut down temporarily

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following a serious airspace violation by a Pakistani fighter jet over the Poonch sector in Jammu. Indian forces reportedly responded by firing at the aircraft. In a separate development, 26 drones from Pakistan were shot down by Indian forces, highlighting the increasing frequency and scale of cross-border provocations.

Reports also indicate that three Pakistani airbases—Noorkhan, Rafiqui, and Murid—experienced explosions. Pakistani media has acknowledged the incidents, although details remain unclear. The Indian Army has scheduled a crucial press briefing at 10 a.m. to address these developments.

In Akhnoor, Jammu, a blackout was reported, with sirens blaring across the area, intensifying concerns about regional security. Pakistan allegedly targeted 26 key Indian locations through drone strikes on the previous night, prompting India to respond with decisive countermeasures. Heavy gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) continues as part of the escalating hostilities.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has completely closed its airspace, and all activities at the affected airbases have been suspended. India, too, has taken precautionary steps, shutting down 32 airports across several states including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. The Airport Authority of India has confirmed that these airports will remain closed until May 15, as a response to ongoing drone threats and rising military tensions.

The list of closed airports includes major and regional hubs such as Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Pathankot, and more. The situation remains tense, with both countries on high alert amid the continued threat of escalation.
