BJP leaders have called for a National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) investigation into the deaths and have demanded a compensation of Rs 50 lakh and government jobs for the victims’ families. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also involved in the Jharkhand BJP Assembly elections, has warned that the BJP will provide jobs to the families if the current government fails to do so.
