The Indian Air Force (IAF) has announced 336 vacancies for Commissioned Officers under the Short Service Commission, with 263 positions allocated for men and 73 for women. Interested candidates must apply for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2024 by December 31, 2023, before 11:30 PM. The AFCAT is scheduled to take place on February 22 and 23, 2024, in two shifts, and examination centers are available in major cities across Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Thrissur, and Kannur.
The available positions cover multiple branches, including the Flying Branch, Ground Duty (Technical) for Aeronautical Engineers in Electronics and Mechanical disciplines, Ground Duty (Non-Technical) for various roles such as Weapon Systems, Logistics, Administration, and Accounts, and the NCC Special Entry for Flying Branch candidates. For the Flying Branch, candidates must be between 20–24 years old as of January 1, 2024, and up to 26 years for those with a commercial pilot license. The Ground Duty Branch has an age range of 20–26 years. Candidates must also meet other eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications and medical standards.
The AFCAT exam comprises 100 objective questions on topics like general knowledge, English, logical reasoning, numerical ability, and military aptitude, with a total duration of two hours. After successfully clearing the test, selected candidates will undergo a five-day interview process, including physical and mental assessments. Those applying under the NCC Special Entry category are exempt from the AFCAT and will directly appear for the interview.
