In a bid to facilitate the transition of military personnel into civilian careers, the Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), under the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW), organized a successful job fair at Air Force Station, Pune. The event, held on Friday, attracted over 2,500 ex-servicemen from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, along with more than 50 companies offering over 1,000 job openings across various sectors.
The fair served as a crucial platform for veterans to showcase their leadership, technical, and strategic skills, making them ideal candidates for roles such as Senior Supervisors, Mid and Senior-level Managers, Strategic Planners, and Project Directors. Employers, in turn, gained access to a disciplined, resilient, and goal-oriented workforce with exceptional problem-solving abilities.
Beyond traditional employment, the event also highlighted entrepreneurship as a viable career path for veterans. Several companies presented innovative business models, encouraging ex-servicemen to explore self-employment and enterprise development, leveraging their expertise in logistics, operations, and crisis management.
The fair was inaugurated by Dr. Niten Chandra, IAS, Secretary of DESW, and Maj Gen SBK Singh, SM, Director General (Resettlement), DGR. Senior military officials and corporate representatives, including Prashant Girbane, President of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries, and Agriculture (MCCIA), also attended, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting veterans in securing sustainable post-service careers.
This initiative not only empowers ex-servicemen but also enriches the corporate sector with their unparalleled skills and dedication.
