Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Baiju has landed in legal trouble after a drunken driving incident resulted in his car hitting a scooter rider and causing injuries. The accident took place late Sunday night at the Vellayambalam junction in Thiruvananthapuram. Baiju, who was reportedly driving from the Sasthamcotta area, collided with the scooterist who was traveling from Kavadiyar. The mishap occurred as Baiju attempted to maneuver his car around a roadblock set up due to ongoing construction work. He lost control of his vehicle, leading to the crash.
The actor’s car first hit a signal post, then struck another, and finally came to a stop after causing significant damage. The injured scooter rider was rushed to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital for medical treatment. Though Baiju presented himself for a medical examination, he allegedly refused to provide a blood sample for alcohol testing. Medical staff, noting the smell of alcohol on him, informed the authorities about his refusal to comply with standard procedures.
The Museum police have registered a case against Baiju for reckless driving under the influence of alcohol. Despite the absence of a formal complaint from the injured party, the police initiated legal action on their own accord, given the circumstances of the accident. Further developments in the case are awaited as investigations continue.
