Thiruvananthapuram: The relentless monsoon rains lashing Kerala continue to impact transportation, with major disruptions reported in train schedules across the state. The Thiruvananthapuram–Kozhikode Jan Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12076), originally scheduled to depart at 5.55 am today, has been rescheduled to leave at 8.45 am. The delay is attributed to the late arrival of its pairing service, the Kozhikode–Thiruvananthapuram Jan Shatabdi Express (Train No. 12075), which reached its destination only at 1.45 am instead of the scheduled 9.30 pm.
In addition to the Jan Shatabdi delay, the Guruvayur–Thiruvananthapuram Intercity Express is also running approximately one hour late. This situation has also caused inconvenience to morning commuters and travelers relying on timely rail services across the state.
The Kerala Railway Division worked overnight to restore services that had been disrupted in Thiruvananthapuram due to a tree that had fallen on the railway tracks. Obstructions on critical track sections at Kazhakootam and Kadakkavoor were successfully cleared, allowing train operations to resume by late Thursday night.
With heavy rain continuing to batter various regions of Kerala, travelers are advised to check the latest train running status before heading to stations. Indian Railways is actively monitoring the situation and making every effort to minimize further delays and maintain passenger safety.
