
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala ushered in the New Year with record liquor sales, reaching an impressive Rs 108 crore on December 31 alone. Of this, Rs 69.42 crore was attributed to sales from BEVCO outlets across the state. This marks a significant increase compared to last year’s New Year’s Eve sales, which stood at Rs 94.77 crore.
The BEVCO outlet in Ravipuram, Ernakulam, reported the highest single-day sales, generating Rs 92.31 lakh. It was followed closely by outlets in Nedumangad (Rs 86.65 lakh), Kavanad-Ashramam (Rs 79.20 lakh), Edappally-Kadavanthra (Rs 79 lakh), and Chalakudy (Rs 75.11 lakh).
Kerala’s festive season was marked by a surge in liquor consumption, with total sales amounting to Rs 712.05 crore during the Christmas and New Year period. Notably, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day alone saw Rs 152.06 crore in liquor sales, a sharp rise from the Rs 122.14 crore recorded during the same period in 2024.
The growing trend in liquor sales during festive seasons highlights Kerala’s unique consumption patterns, underscoring the role of beverages as a significant part of celebrations in the state. The record-breaking liquor sales in Kerala during the festive season reflect the state’s celebratory spirit and evolving consumption trends.
