KSRTC to Launch Door-to-Door Courier Delivery Amidst Revenue Growth from Non-Ticket Sales

Expansion Plans Include New Courier Services, Increased Advertising Revenue, and Enhanced Passenger Amenities

Kollam: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to expand its courier operations by introducing a door-to-door delivery system, as part of its broader strategy to increase revenue from non-ticket sales. Currently, 47 depots offer courier services, but due to staffing shortages, this service has yet to be implemented in other depots. To address the gap, KSRTC plans to use temporary staff to initiate courier services at more locations.

The corporation’s recent boost in revenue from these non-ticket services has spurred discussions on setting up a direct home delivery system for goods. In addition, KSRTC is ramping up efforts to increase its advertising revenue. Business executives are being hired to manage advertising initiatives, and tenders have been accepted to install large billboards at depot premises across various districts.

Another key contributor to KSRTC’s revenue growth is the sale of Hilly Aqua bottled water, produced by the Kerala Irrigation Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (KIIDC). As demand for the product increases, KSRTC plans to extend its availability to more depots and fuel stations.

Moreover, KSRTC has partnered with a private firm to create air-conditioned waiting areas at bus stands in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. These facilities include separate rooms for women and families, as well as a dedicated feeding room in the women’s section. Passengers are charged Rs 20 for the first hour and Rs 10 for each additional hour. With growing demand, a new waiting area is set to open in Angamaly on October 17, and additional locations are being planned.
