Thiruvanathapuram: Actor Mohanlal, speaking at the Kerala Cricket League launch in Thiruvananthapuram, addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding the Malayalam film industry, expressing his concerns and hopes for the future. “I don’t have answers for everything. Let us hope this will herald a new change in the industry,” he remarked.
Mohanlal clarified the reasons for his absence during the height of the controversy, stating that he was out of Kerala to support his wife during her surgery and was later occupied with post-production work for his film ‘Barroz’. He dismissed accusations of deliberately avoiding the situation, stressing that the current controversy is being discussed internationally, which could harm the industry’s reputation.
Highlighting the impact on the livelihoods of thousands who depend on cinema, Mohanlal urged people not to destroy what has been built over years of hard work. He emphasized the need for fairness and equal application of the law across all sectors, not just cinema.
Reflecting on the personal toll, Mohanlal expressed frustration at being singled out, stating, “Just one person is being crucified. Everything is blamed on AMMA.” He invited others who disagreed with the recent decisions to step forward and lead, reiterating that these actions were taken after careful legal consultation.
