The Kerala Excise Department has intensified its investigation into the hybrid cannabis case by issuing fresh notices to a well-known model and a former reality show star from Kochi. Though the identities of the individuals have not been disclosed yet, they are scheduled to appear before the excise authorities on Monday for questioning. The notices were delivered in person to ensure their compliance.
Popular actors Shine Tom Chacko and Sreenath Bhasi have also been served notices to appear on the same day, indicating the widening scope of the investigation.
The latest developments follow the arrest of three key individuals in the case — Taslima Sultana (alias Christina, aged 43) from Kannur, her husband Sultan Akbar Ali (43), and their associate K. Firoz (26) from Mannancherry. The trio was presented before the Alappuzha Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody. The proceedings were led by Assistant Excise Commissioner Ashok Kumar.
Authorities revealed that crucial evidence was retrieved from the mobile phone of Taslima Sultana, including chats and transaction records, which have now become pivotal in the probe. The model and reality show star were reportedly found to have had financial dealings with Taslima, and investigators are working to determine whether these were connected to drug procurement.
The excise team aims to wrap up the investigation swiftly and file the chargesheet within a month, expediting the legal process and signaling a no-tolerance approach toward narcotics in the state.
