Kochi: This Children’s Day, Mirchi created a heartwarming and intergenerational experience with its unique radio broadcast, “Ezhum Ezhupathum” (Seven and Seventy). The show brought together kids around 7 years old and elder citizens aged 70+ from diverse backgrounds, fostering meaningful conversations and connections.
In the morning show, Paru Thankam and her grandfather, along with Ammalu and her granddad, shared laughter and patched up disagreements. The mid-morning show had residents of a retirement home interacting with renowned director Sathyan Anthikkad, actors Shwetha Menon and Salim Kumar, and singers Sujatha Mohan and Madhu Balakrishnan.
“During the heartfelt conversation, actress Shwetha Menon was moved to laughter as she responded to a curious resident’s inquiry: “Didn’t your parents worry when you publicly shared your pregnancy and delivery journey?”. Director Sathyan Anthikkad revealed his childhood longing for a grandparent to share tales with him. Singer Sujatha opened her heart to one of the senior citizens when she said, “Having sacrificed time with my daughter for my career, I’m now dedicated to cherishing every moment with my grandchild.”
The afternoon time band had social media influencers Raul the Rockstar (AI tutor) and Radhakrishnan Chakyat (also an actor), engaging in a lively discussion on technology and generational differences. Radhakrishnan challenged Raul asking, “Would you be satisfied with an AI powered meal rather than a tasty meal prepped by your mother”.
The evening drive witnessed timeless love and friendship between Nalini and Nirmala, friends for over 60 years. Nalini, who is the tech updated one, shared Instagram tips with Nirmala while the latter taught the former pop culture jargons among Gen Alpha.
Viral social media couple Retnamma and Thulasidharan (@_acha_mass) concluded the special broadcast when they discussed their first fights and failed holiday plans. Retnamma shared honestly, “None of his traits endear me, and I frequently find myself irritated with him.”
