The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning predicting a significant rise in temperatures across southern Kerala over the next two days. As per the forecast, temperatures may rise by up to three degrees Celsius, resulting in an uncomfortable mix of heat and humidity. While the daytime temperatures are expected to soar, hilly regions in the state will experience relatively cooler weather at night.
The increasing heat and humidity levels could make outdoor activities more challenging, especially during peak afternoon hours. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures to avoid heat-related illnesses such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and sunstroke. Those venturing outside should ensure they stay hydrated, wear light-colored and breathable clothing, and avoid prolonged sun exposure during the hottest part of the day.
The IMD urges people, particularly the elderly, children, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions, to remain cautious during this period. It is also recommended to consume plenty of fluids, use protective gear like hats or umbrellas, and stay in well-ventilated or air-conditioned areas whenever possible.
While the heatwave-like conditions are expected to persist temporarily, relief is likely in the form of localized evening showers in some parts of the state. However, residents should stay updated with official weather bulletins and take necessary precautions to cope with the sweltering conditions.
