Thiruvananthapuram: Despite mounting allegations against CPM MLA and actor M Mukesh, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) has stated that there is no necessity for his resignation. The party maintains that as no formal legal complaints have been filed, Mukesh should not be forced to step down. The CPM has highlighted that similar allegations against UDF MLAs have not led to their resignations, reinforcing their stance.
The CPM state secretariat reviewed the Hema committee report and decided that any further action would be contingent on the High Court’s decision. Amid ongoing controversies, including Director Ranjith’s resignation from the film academy, Mukesh is now at the center of serious allegations. Actress Minu Muneer has accused Mukesh of using inappropriate language and pressuring her for cooperation. She alleged that Mukesh repeatedly disturbed her with phone calls and moved her to his adjacent hotel room. Additionally, casting director Tess Joseph had previously accused Mukesh during the ‘MeToo’ movement in 2018, alleging that he harassed her with phone calls and attempted to move her to his hotel room.
In response to these allegations, Mukesh may be removed from his role on the film policy-making committee. Opposition groups are intensifying their demands for Mukesh’s resignation, with organizations such as Mahila Morcha and Mahila Congress organizing protests and marches to his residence.
