Wayanad: During her second phase of campaigning for the Wayanad by-election, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra delivered a strong critique of the BJP-led central government, accusing it of perpetuating fear, anger, and distress. Addressing a gathering in Meenangadi, Priyanka condemned the BJP for allegedly undermining India’s constitutional values and targeting minorities. She referenced the ongoing violence in Manipur, suggesting that attacks on minority groups are “planned,” and described these actions as an intentional spread of fear and hatred by the government.
Priyanka argued that the current administration prioritizes the interests of the Prime Minister’s associates over the welfare of the general public. She criticized the government’s lack of support for farmers and tribal communities, claiming that policies have overlooked their needs, often seizing tribal lands to benefit wealthy individuals. Priyanka expressed empathy for the struggles faced by these communities, asserting that they have been ignored under the present administration.
Reflecting on her brother, Rahul Gandhi, who previously held the Wayanad seat, Priyanka spoke warmly of his connection with the constituency, portraying him as a figure deeply committed to the area and its people. She emphasized their shared commitment to upholding democracy, equality, and constitutional values. Priyanka vowed to be a relentless advocate for the people of Wayanad if elected, pledging to represent their concerns in Parliament.
After her address, Priyanka led a brief roadshow and continued to engage with constituents in additional meetings across Panamaram and Pozhuthana. This marked her second visit to Wayanad since filing her nomination on October 22, when she was joined by Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and other Congress leaders in Kalpetta. Priyanka later posted on social media, expressing her admiration for the people of Wayanad and their dedication to justice, democracy, and constitutional integrity, voicing optimism for the region’s future.
