New Delhi: Union Minister Suresh Gopi has been assigned increased responsibilities by the central government, coinciding with a restriction placed on his acting commitments. Directed to remain in New Delhi three days a week, Gopi’s roster duties have intensified, especially in the lead-up to Parliament’s winter session from November 25 to December 20. During this period, he is tasked with overseeing parliamentary matters four days a week, responding to questions in the absence of the relevant Union Minister.
Additionally, Gopi will represent India at the G7 Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in Florence, Italy, from November 13 to 15, reflecting his growing international role. His duties have also been expanded within Kerala, particularly regarding Waqf-related matters, signaling a deeper engagement in regional affairs.
These changes come after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah advised Gopi to limit his acting projects to one film per year. Despite this guidance, Gopi has prior commitments in place, having already agreed to star in 22 films. The recent developments reflect the government’s intention for him to prioritize ministerial duties, emphasizing his role both in national and international arenas.
