Barcelona: FC Barcelona faces a setback with injuries to key attackers Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal. While both players are set to be sidelined for the upcoming days, the club is optimistic they will not miss any significant match action in La Liga or the Champions League, as the international break provides them time for recovery. Barcelona confirmed on Monday that Lamine Yamal has a grade 1 syndesmosis injury in his right ankle, ruling him out for approximately two to three weeks, with his return projected for early December. Lewandowski, on the other hand, is dealing with back pain and will be resting for about ten days, aiming to be back by the end of the international break.
Both forwards are integral to Barcelona’s attacking strategies under head coach Hansi Flick. Yamal, who has contributed six goals in 15 games this season, missed Barcelona’s recent 0-1 defeat to Real Sociedad. Meanwhile, Lewandowski has been prolific across competitions with 17 goals, leading La Liga’s scoring charts.
Coach Flick addressed Yamal’s absence in a post-match press conference, stating that Barcelona’s medical staff will request that Yamal skip Spain’s upcoming international fixtures against Denmark and Switzerland. “Lamine’s injury kept him out today, and I doubt he’ll return immediately after the break. We’ll discuss with the RFEF to ensure the best decision for his recovery,” Flick remarked.
With Yamal and Lewandowski temporarily unavailable, Barcelona may have to rely on other forwards in their ranks to maintain their strong form in Europe’s top leagues. The club hopes the break allows both players to recover fully without missing critical matches as they aim to continue their pursuit of league and Champions League success.
