Shefali Varma has been sidelined from ODI cricket thanks to the remarkable rise of Pratika Rawal, who has formed a formidable stand for the first wicket with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana

Team India has announced its squad for the 2025 Women’s World Cup, as it enters the competition aiming to win the coveted trophy for the first time in history. The tournament is scheduled to take place in India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. Before that, India is all set to take on Australia in a three-match ODI series. The squad for that has been named as well.

The biggest name that is missing from the squad is Shefali Varma. Varma was last seen in ODI cricket back in October in a match against New Zealand. Star fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur returns to the squad after being sidelined with a stress fracture since March. She was last seen in action in the WPL 2025.
